From My Bookshelf to Yours
A small introduction from the comfort of my imaginary library
I. Love. Books!!!!
Yup!! I have since before I could even read or write! I don’t mind ebooks, if there is no other option available to me, but I truly prefer physical copies. Especially if they’re old, hardback, with a unique cover, and full of that “old book” smell. Mmmm! Makes my heart skip!
I live in Bosnia and Hercegovina with my Bosnian husband, but I am an American who has lived all over the place (England, Japan, all over the US, and now here) so when I moved from the US to Bosnia, I HAD to make sure at least the majority of my books came with me. I still had to get rid of about 40% of my mini library to fit the rest in my suitcases. That fact still does not sit right with my heart. But I love my little library that will forever be growing.
Much like most bibliophiles, I have read not all of the books on my shelves. Nor have I read all of the books in my virtual shelves (my ebooks). And for a long time I’ve wanted to, but I always have a burning desire to SHARE what I’m reading or have read.
That’s where this section of my Substack comes in to play!
I am going to make an effort to make my way through every. single. book, short story, and fairytale on my shelf and share my thoughts on them throughout and at the end of each! My husband and I live in a rather small space, so our books aren’t able to show off their full beauty, as they have to be stacked on row in front of the other… and I had to weed out some, recently, that just aren’t welcome on the shelves anymore (more on that in a later post), and our date nights usually include getting one (or a few) book(s) at our favourite book store in the city… so this shift in our inventory means I need to rearrange the shelves anyway.
What better time to start this project than now?!
I will be reading the books in alphabetical order, by last name of the authour, so you can expect to see my posts following such an order as well. I’m thinking I’ll either A) read all of the physical books in alphabetical order THEN read all of the ebooks in the same order, OR, B) I’ll read the physical AND ebooks in alphabetical order. I have yet to decide and will probably inform you of my decision in my next post.
I’m SO excited to begin this journey and hope you’ll tag along and share your thoughts on these books and stories as well!
Enjoy this photo of the current state of said book shelves and…
HAPPY READING!
